I dug around in the shed and found an original throttle cable, I also found one for a 2lt Escort. It is around the correct length but has two nuts and a threaded section to adjust the overall length, the existing factory item does not. I am going to make a simple bracket to mount the Escort cable to the existing factory bracket, this is so I can have a wider adjustment range and also hope to cure the car of idle speed changes between cold starts and normal running temps, the idle changes by 300-400 RPM from cold start to normal running temp. I also did investigate the use of an XD or XE Falcon item and as they have a Weber and the same type of peddle connection with a plastic holder that has a single screw fixing onto the fire wall, they may be able to be used also.

Falcon one mounts up at the firewall and has the same ball end, but, its is nearly triple the length of a V6 one.  Yesterford sell new V6 throttle cables
