well the boot lid is painted! I know its not the old silver colour but the original colour was stardust blue. Since that didn't appeal im painting it blue ice - for nostalgic reasons - I had a blue ice v6 in the 70's. I naughtily put twin round headlights etc into it because I liked facelifts - now heres my chance to have a facelift in this colour. The panel beater who prepped it is actually a coach builder - a real wiz - so...

The car behind this one is a 4cyl facelift - got it for $450 - ill post some pics next. I had the silver around the tail lights re-done - $60/unit - very nice. The car had only done 15000km so still has the original exhaust system

Shes nearly there, bonnet and bootlid yet to be fitted but ill send these pics (and one of the receipt) to the freight forwarder to get it under way. Sold the pressed metal wheels and chucked these on just to get it over (have a set of original rs3100 wheels with new tyres for it). Whoever had it last, had the springs adjusted so she sits higher - good for travelling on the boat but then ill lower it back. Anyway, it was an interesting exercise:
paint & panel beating $3000
new battery, windscreen rubber, door & boot seals, carpet (from Knox carpets!), trim repairs, clutch release bearing, radiator, bonnet, bumpers & over riders re-chromed, new key strips, oil, filter, $20 fuel, new fuel filter and quite a few little odds and ends - approx $1700, labour $1400 and the car cost $3800 ($3040 AUD at the time - aust $ is down now - blast it!) - all NZD. To bring it in - approx $3500 (AUD). (Scaved some juicy bits out of the mk 2 v6 i wrecked to finish it).
(the lower chrome trim isnt on the door yet..)

Arn't we all (old). It IS a true love thing - but you try and make your wife understand what true love is all about? She wont have a clue! Life can be so cruel.....
