1600 to 2.0L swap help

Just got a 2l engine. Just need to find out what i can use from the 1600 on the 2L. Do i have to change gearbox's? what about my clutch? Clutch cable? engine mount rubbers?

Also the 2L engine came out of a cortina, will i have to change sump's to fit?

has anyone used standard size mahle pistons? anygood? problems?
Or does anyone have new std pistons, bearings, conrods for sale?

Also after a complete 32/36 carby

Please help i need to buy everything i need in the next 2 weeks or so... I have a dead line.

    OK, to the best of my recollection;

Do i have to change gearbox's? No, same gearbox, think bellhousing is the same too but not sure.

    what about my clutch?
Different size (larger), will also need the flyweel for the 2 litre

    Clutch cable?
Think the 2 litre is longer for some reason?

    engine mount rubbers?
    Believe they are the same

Also the 2L engine came out of a cortina, will i have to change sump's to fit?
Need to change sump, cortina sump will hit crossmember

Used Mahle before - good reliable piston for std rods

The gearbox will fit but there is a small mod you'll need to make. Put a 5mm spacer between the clutch release fork and the bell housing at the pivot point. Your clutch won't work without it.

I've been caught out by that myself....

Yep, you need to lift the pivot point about 5 mm off the bell housing. Sorry, don't have any photos.

    Cam,

If you want to keep the cortina sump you can use an angle grinder to remove a section of the crossmember.

If you do this I would recomend welding up the sections you have cut out to preserve some strength and rigidity.

It's not ideal, obviously, but I have seen it done. Not personally though.

If you are in Melbourne and have the money check these guys out for a sump http://highenergy.com.au/applications. May not suit your application but I have heard good things about them.

    Good luck.

    Cheers,

    Matt
