Bleeding brakes

Hi all,

I have just fitted a new hilux disc brake rear to the MK1. Has Nissan Maxima A32 calipers and discs, standard pads.

I have a pedal box fitted so i can isolate the rear brakes a being the a potential problem.

My issue is that when i crack the bleed nipple on the rear brakes the pedalDOES NOT go to the floor. I believe this is leading to be getting only half a pedal after bleeding the system. Cracking the front brake bleed nipple results in the pedal effortlessly moving till it touches the floor.

Does anyone have any ideas on why the pedal doesnt move all the way to the floor when cracking the rear brakes. Seems like some sort of restriction.

Another thing I'm unsure about is after pumping the pedal a few times the fluidd level drops a few millimetres, when at rest it backflows filling to the original level.

    Sounds like there is still air in it. I have used this method for years now and its gret because you dont waste much fluid and dont need 2 people.

    Remove the cap of the reservoir,

    Crack the bleeder on the wheel furthest away,

    Let it gravity bleed, dont pump the pedal! If you sit there and watch it you will actually see the air bubbles coming through. Keep it open until you are getting only fluid coming out, lock the bleeder off and repeat on the other side.

    Make sure the master doesnt run dry.

    One more thing to check because it can be an easy mistake, are you sure the calipers are on the correct sides e.g. bleeder nipple above the inlet hose? I have seen this done by mistake a few times and you will never get the air out if they are the wrong way around.

    Thanks so much Gdub. You right on i have the caliper fitted on the wrong sides. [:I]. I will try again. Thanks for the tip on the bleeding, much appreciated.
    Its just a shame i missed 2 events due to my stupidity.[8~2]
