Sounds like there is still air in it. I have used this method for years now and its gret because you dont waste much fluid and dont need 2 people.
Remove the cap of the reservoir,
Crack the bleeder on the wheel furthest away,
Let it gravity bleed, dont pump the pedal! If you sit there and watch it you will actually see the air bubbles coming through. Keep it open until you are getting only fluid coming out, lock the bleeder off and repeat on the other side.
Make sure the master doesnt run dry.
One more thing to check because it can be an easy mistake, are you sure the calipers are on the correct sides e.g. bleeder nipple above the inlet hose? I have seen this done by mistake a few times and you will never get the air out if they are the wrong way around.
