MK1 Escort Auto High Reving???

What is the expected top speed of a MK1 3 Speed Auto? My son's car is flat out at about 110 KPH and certainly revs high at 100 KPH. It is selecting all 3 gears but is there a possibility that the gearbox may not be doing its job or is this normal? Thanks, Ken

    Torque coverter takes the first 900 RPM, diff is most likely 4.11 why not swap diff centres for 3.7 from a manual capri / mk2 escort and or fit some 14" wheels

    My 1300 auto is revving very hard at 105kmh. I usually cruise on the highway at about 90-100 to try and go easy on the poor old girl. Built for comfort, not speed
