a supra box (w58) shold be able to handle that easily (its high torque that kills them). No idea about the 4sp/5sp ford box's though sorry...

I have a w58 box and conversion if your looking for one? I have just bought a cosworth t5 so I wont be needing the w58 anymore. PM me if your interested. Cheers

Dellow make a bell housing to bolt up a Celica Steel case to a Pinto and that will bolt up to the back of the Zetec as i have that in my car now.

I'm not sure if the Steel case will take much above 250HP (can anyone confirm) but as above it's torque and weight that kill boxes. I think I read somewhere that if you change the input shaft bearing from ball to a needle roller then they're more durable.

Ha; funny topic[88] - "300hp gearbox??"...A gearbox transmits power rather than producing it[:o)][:o)][:o)]...Okay enough clowning around...

I had a 220hp N/A Cossie with Celica Steel case and it was fine...Once I changed to turbo and 400hp it could not handle the torque and the cluster in 3rd failed...

Now an input of 500hp and straight cut gears; all is well again and has been for many years...

Im using a Tremec T5 in my next project, its from a 2007 US Mustang V8, Brand new $1100 and 350ft/lb proof, add a Sierra Cosworth belhousing, hyd clutch kit...best bit is if it 'lunches' any gears i can buy new sets for $120us, or change ratio's, the box weighs 36kg total.
Also if your still turboing the Zetec invest in this book..

It shows and proves lots of theory and dyno testing comparisons, worth buying for any Zetec fan

thanks for the input guys, the straight cut celica appeals to me, bought the engine the other week and marty thanks for the book info, i read it twice given me some good ideas. im still not sure what i want to do with my driveline yet.. gearbox that can handle what i throw at it and a diff to handle 350rwhp is a little out of expertise. More imput is most welcome
