What width sway bar?

Hi Guys,

I am after some opinions on what width sway bar to get for my MK II.

It has the following -

Capri Coilover conversion
285lb 10inch springs
Koni yellow shocks
Eurospeed eccentric strut tops

I am running 15inch rims with 195 50 R15 rubber.

I am after advice on whether the 22mm or 24mm bar from K-Mac is more suitable, as the car is being built with club events / track days in mind? (It won't be a daily driver.)

I chose k-Mac as they seem to have the most amount of caster adjustment.

Thanks for your help

Matt

    Thanks Mickas,

That was what I was thinking.

Why is the smaller one more preferable?

    Cheers

Too big and it wont go around corners. It stiffens the front end up too much.

I agree with Mickas, 22mm is heaps particularly with your spring rate.

    I have a KMAC 22mm with 250lb springs

I run 22mm in my road cars and motorkhana / autocross cars, but for the circuit I have a 24mm Whiteline that makes the car corner really flat...I drive autocross so love oversteer and abhore understeer, and this has no understeer.

It works well, but YOU have to work out how you like the car handling and it is a function of ALL your suspention components. Alone it would probably understeer like a pig, but with the right suspention mods matched - it all works perfectly on my car. (I do have to sort the rear so it is not so hard sprung and likely though !! (Last turn onto the main straight at Sandown is all powersliding onto the straight atm...)

Yeah but that has more to do with the rubber on your car being so old that they are made of wood [(#)][88]
