Well, Finished undercoating today, it's finally one colour! Faced it all back and very happy with the results. Final colour is going on tomorrow. Thank you Dad. I have a set of Green glass to suit the MK2, so no more dark tinted glass. The glass is from a pre 78 MK2 and has not got the same safety logo on the glass. Will this effect me when i register it? Or do i just wing it, and hope they just don't know or notice it.

Fantastic effort Mark. She's looking great. Can't wait to see pictures with the final colour. That light at the end of the tunnel must be getting brighter

Thanks Peter. I have lost a few hairs up top over the whole experience. I am going with Black around the windows and the strip down the sides where the door handles are. Fitting the anti dive kit tomorrow and get the Red paint ready for more glossy coats, when i can afford the paint. You would not believe how happy i am right now. The light in the tunnel is getting brighter.

Would be difficult point for inspectors to challange and prove is safety related. Being an old car very few people would notice the glass is not original on this particular model. Just wing it and say nothing at the inspection.

Thanks guys, If it wasn't my first car, it would be at the scrap heap now. Especially if i had kept the 4 door RS i wreaked/parted out last year. I can't wait to have the car the way it was when i was a teenager. i am going to feel like a kid again.
I can't wait to see the Green glass with the Red paint. Every colour blind persons dream.[:p]
Going through my thread has been funny to view, and nice to see my spelling and grammar improving. I should fix up the early photo's and add some stories one day. I have had a ball driving my RS over the years.
CheeRS to many more happier stories to come.

Hahahaha, it's funny because I'm colour blind with red and green! quote:

Please do!!! I want more stories to drag/inspire me back to the light side, I'm already planning another 35KIE.

Good question. The main drama with painting the nosecone is paint cracking when the nose flexes. You can buy the additive from the paint shop, it is expensive. The surface needs to be very clean after you finished sanding, Skuff it can be bought at a paint shop and applied with fine steel wool. I have always painted the nose on the car. No point making more work for yourself.
