Fuel & Temp Gauge Problem

Just changed the dash on my Mk2 1600 to a tacho dash out of a Mk2 2 litre and the Fuel & Temp gauges went right up off the scale so I swapped over the voltage regulators and the fuel gauge moved up to the empty position (I have a full tank of fuel) and the temp gauge didn't budge. Anyone else had this problem when changing to a tacho dash and how did you fix it?

I did mine a couple of weeks ago, but i didn't have this problem, and the temp gauges take a fairly long time to move off the spot. have your wired it properly?

Yep wired correctly. I've tried 3 different voltage regulators, 2 out of 1600 XL's (non tacho dash) which gives a very low reading on both gauges and 1 out of a 2 litre which gives a very high reading on both gauges. Is there a difference in the regulators for a 1600 & 2 litre??

Brandon what did you get your tacho dash out of? I'm wondering if a 1600 sport or ghia that came standard with a tacho dash has a different voltage regulator all together, surely I cant have 3 dud regulators.

More than likely the voltage stabiliser on the back of the cluster is knackered

    Hi Gareth,

If thats the black rectangle thingy with the wire (technical term) I've tried two of those and it made no difference.
