Is a booster need???

Hi,i have a mk2 escort sedan,i have fitted a 302 clevo to it and was wondering would i need to run a brake booster???Im running standard escort disc brakes in the front at the moment and falcon rear disc's on a shortened falcon diff???Was going to use a V8 mastercylinder from a XE falcon and also going to upgrade the front brake to a 5 stud pattern a run VN front callipers????cheers

    The booster will just make the pedal softer to push but won't improve breaking performance.

    You may not have enough room in the engine bay to fit the booster but there are some around that can be remote mounted. I.e. inside the wheel arch.

    Yeah i was thinking of running a remote booster.I'm actually trying to have my escort ready for performance car mania in september this year 16th to 18th.So i might be strapped for time.Would it hurt if i just went with the Falcon master cylinder and just dont run a booster???

    As you said i dont have much room in the engine bay,im modifying the escort pedal box to mount the master cylinder directly ontop of it so will be like one of those ones that i have seen people fitting on here.

    In theory it should be fine but you may just have to wear really heavy shoes and start doing some leg excercises.

    Best bet is to speak to a brake specialist.

    Not sure where you are but in melb west suburbs Hoppers Stoppers have a good rep.

    If you modify your pedal box to a remote mounted 'rally style' box like most of us on here have. Then you won't have any need for a booster. The pedal will be harder then normal but its nothing over the top and its fine even for everyday use.

    Just remember the bigger the discs the less pedal force is needed.

    Wouldn't that be pads not disks?

    I may be wrong though.

    think of stopping a spinning record, less force is required on the outside vs inside if you stop it with your finger. Pad suface area makes a difference however you are somewhat limited to the pad size your caliper can accomodate.

    Well im going to use front rotors off a ZK V8 fairlane,and am using front callipers off a VN commodore with db1085 pads.
