Well,

Finally got some time to spend on this and stil no joy[xo]

I have bought a new GT40r coil and wired it all up with a ballast resistor on the positive wire going to the coil.

I have measure voltage at the positive side of coil and get 12volts with ignition on and 7volts when starter is engaged.

I am starting to think maybe it might be the pertronix kit or just me having no clue.[8~2]

I will test to see if I am getting a spark from the iginition leads too.

Any ideas?

Very frustrating.

Hi Guys,

Well, I admitted defeat and put the points back in again and it started first go.

I am sure that I just needed to adjust the timing to about 10 degrees (according to my cousin) to get it going but I don't have a timing light so I will get one soon and revisit this.

Thanks to all who posted.

Cheers

Matt

Matt,
sorry to bring up an old thread, but did you ever get this going?

I too ran through the same issues and had to admit defeat also so would be keen to hear if you discovered a resolution....?

Thanks,
Kieran

Hi Mate,

No, I haven't got around to having another go at it.  I may have a crack this weekend though.

What's your issue?

Ive had the same issues as yourself and have tried to go through the motions of pin pointing the issue but with no luck. Ive tried different coils to even getting a Bosch Blue coil to see if this may rectify the issue. Not such luck. I even tried another unit, still no spark. So there must be something happening with the car/wiring which i will need to try and nut out. The engine conversion was already done when i got the car so when i have the engine out again soon ill see if i can sort it out.

If you ever do find the issue, id be keen to hear what it is so i have an idea of where to start looking!

Cheers,
Kieran

I am pretty sure it is to do with the timing.  I have been told to adjust the timing to about 10 degrees and this should get things sorted.
