Sierra Race Cars.

Thought we needed a thread to discuss the mighty Group A Sierras.

As it turns out the guy I bought my road car from has a few other toys, including Colin Bonds #8 Sierra. Apparently it is the last Group A sierra ever built and last competed in the 1992 Bathurst 1000.

Glenn Seton is a good mate of the owner, and he'll be running the car at the 50th Anniversary Touring Car meeting in August at Lakeside, which will be the cars first official run since Bathurst. Brett will also be running the car at this years Muscle Car Masters.

Was told that the engine used to run about 30psi of boost in qualifying but they decided to detune it a bit when it made 664hp at the flywheel on the engine dyno!

Here are a few snaps I took at Bretts shed.

The car is in great nick and a credit to the owner. Unfortunately I don't have any more pics at this stage but I'm sure I could get some more if need be

I have lots of photos, maybe we could have seperate posts about each car we find so not to mix them up.

I took these at Phillip Island Historics.

    Owner - Robert Ingham.
    Car - 1987 Bathurst

Haha...... mate I've been looking at them for 25 years, but as much as I'd love a Sierra track/race car, I could not afford one unless I won lotto.

The car should be mint it only did 7 laps of bathurst and then GRP A was over.

The next owner Ron O'brien, who bought both Bond's cars (the first caltex sierra was never owned by bond and the 4th car was owned by Ken Matthews)let his son Peter use the car at Bathurst for a caltex commercial and that's about all its ever done.

The car Kosta has is the first Bond built car and also the most used. It then spent time a sports sedan.

    As it sits now.

MK1 Lotus - that clears a few things up in my mind. Thankyou. Did that Bond car come from a central coast way owned by fella named Ben?

Also - (please do not take offence) but who are you and what do you do?

    Thanks COS086.

I found my photos of the DJR and Longhurst cars on the weekend, just need to get them off my laptop. I never really noticed that Longhursts car was a left hooker before.

Ben still owns it, I just have to bolt it all together.
