Cruises, race meetings, track days & car shows.

Thought it'd be a good idea to have a thread pointing out what's on & what people are doing with their cars.

From a racing/spectating point of view, meetings that are likely to have a Sierra or two present are:

May 15th - ARDC STATE CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING (NSW)
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

Jul 30 - 31st HRCC ANNUAL HISTORIC - MORGAN PARK (QLD)
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

http://www.hrcc.org.au/warwick.htm

August 12-14th LAKESIDE CLASSIC FESTIVAL OF TOURING CARS

http://www.queenslandraceway.com.au/main.php?menu=qrl01

Sep 3 - 4th AustraliaN MUSCLE CAR MASTERS EASTERN CREEK (NSW)
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

http://www.musclecarmasters.com.au/

Nov 5 - 6th VHRR HISTORIC SANDOWN RACEWAY (VIC)
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

So who's doing what with their cars?

Seeing as it's the 25th anniversary of the Sierra Cosworth, maybe we should try and organise a gathering of cars to celebrate?

Only just picked up the car but I've already arranged my first outing. Both myself and Jasen (Blue Moonstone 174*) are heading to the Macleans Bridge at Lakeside event on the 15th of May. Going to see if Jasens mate with the white RS500 wants to join us as well.

Anyone else want to join us :)

Saleem who owns the white RS500 is joining us at Lakeside, could be the largest gathering of Sierra Cossies in QLD for quite a while :)

Looks like a few Sierra owners took their cars out to Bathurst on the weekend, including a new car I haven't seen before (AT1993).

Does anyone know of any other Sierra owners in SE QLD that might be interested in joining Jasen and myself at the Macleans Bridge at Lakeside event?

Jasen popped into my work this week to introduce himself after a few locals pointed him in my direction. So I am aiming to make it there on Sunday to add another cossie to the mix.

    Cheers Matt

    That's great Matt!

I'm going to ring Jasen in the next couple of days to arrange a meeting place so we can all arrive at Lakeside together. I'll email you my mobile number so we can make the same arrangement.

    Paul.

Had a great day yesterday at the Macleans Bridge event. Matt made the epic trip up from Lismore and we caught up with Jasen and Darryl in his XR4Ti just down the road from Lakeside around 7.45am. We arrived at the track about 8am, and were directed towards the back of the paddock area. It wasn't a great spot but there were heaps of cars to get in.

Spent quite a few hours touring around the place checking out the cars. I reckon there must have been 250-300 cars come and go during the day and thousands of people through the gates.

Highlight of the day for me was getting to take the wife for a few laps around the track in the Cossie. I fully expected the track session to be a few parade laps at pedestrian speeds but I managed to get the car wound up a few times and probably hit 150 down the front straight. I only did about 3 laps before pulling in but I reckon Matt, who was behind me on track, must have done about 10

Well worth the $20 entry fee.

A few photos of our group.

BTW, the next Sierra owners meetup in QLD will be the 50th Anniversary Touring Car meeting at Lakeside Raceway on August 12th-14th. We're expecting at least a couple of Group A Sierras to be racing this weekend, so don't miss it

I agree Paul, it was a great day with glorious sunshine & plenty of nice cars! Shame we were banished down the back: must have been saving the best till last . Ha ha. I too thought the drive around the track would have been at a snail's pace, but we were surprised. It worked out well after a few people dropped off & I snuck past that MG, then we could give it a squirt; not sure it was 10 laps but I didn't want to stop. It was also good to meet you, Jasen, Darryl & the others & to talk cars etc during the day & also to have the chance to see your respective cars. Looking forward to doing it again soon.

Well the weather over the long weekend might not have been the best but COS086 & I braved the rain to make the trip up the coast to catch up with some fellow cossie owners. Jasen, Jon and their families, Saleem & myself met at the Fox & Hound a little English/Irish booza at the base of Mt Tamborine. It was packed & parking was at a premium so, after a quick pint, it was decided to change to a more suitable venue. I only managed to get a couple of quick pictures of the cars as we didn't really get a chance to get the cars into a good position. Luckily there was no rain during the middle of the day & Jon brought out his mint RS500 (a very nice car) & he has a few more very tasty wheels I can't wait to see!!! So it was a great day albeit a little short but well worth the effort to meet & catch up with everyone & I am definitely looking forward to regular meetings in the future.

Holy moly that car looks nice. Well done on the effort - I would have crashed the car straining my next if I drove by.

Disappointed I couldn't make it last weekend to catch up. Jons car looks great, can't wait to see it in person. Hopefully the five of us can all get together for the Touring Car meeting at Lakeside in August.
