Looking good mate.

You should get it tuned properly on a dyno.  No ppint having gone to all that effort and money spent and not the best out of it.

Great stuff.

Hey flighter - will have to get it organised when i'm up n running.
Thanks Matt - Yeh i do wanna hit the dyno when its tuned.

At the mo i'm down no 3 cylinder for some reason.
It's not spark although i seem to think spark is a bit miserable all round.
So it's gonna be carby but i don't really unerstand why at this point. was tuning the other day and got no responce from mixture on 3. even wound it all the way in. So i checked leads, spark, compression and all's well.

spewing oil out of rear main and front main which is really annoying since they are both new.

Having trouble starting. So far i am starting to think starter motor especially since it becomes a problem when the engines hot (at temp). So not really sure why.

So a few bugs to fix.

sure the motor hasnt got too much comp for the starter your using, makes sense as to why it gets worse when hotter, or also too much timing can have a similiar effect

The auto lecky says my earth straps are too small but i just don't see it.
Is it common for the stock starter to be too small??

I have the opposite problem mine will barely turn over first up but when it is warm no worries. My battery is in the boot, put there by the mechanic the auto electrician thinks they should have gone the next cable size up he thinks there is to much voltage drop.

he thinks there is to much voltage drop.

With the voltmeter in place when it does start there is almost no drop from 13volts
when it doesn't start ive seen it drop to 9 or even 0.9

Wow I haven't written on here for a while.

So.... Having the engine back out to address a large oil leak (rear sump :-( ) I was talked around to changing my cam. This seemed like a good idea as with a little more knowledge i could see my old cam choice was way off.
This opened a can of worms.
Seems the cam i had, did not have 474 thou lift after all. This meant that the Newman ph4 did not go straight in. [link=mailto:&%*#$%&*@&%$]&%*#$%&*@&%$[/link]!!!!!!!!
Investigating further found that between valve binding and stem seals I had only 430 thou tops to play with.
So ..... rather than go back a step on cams .... I made the decision yesterday.
The head is now off and at the machinist to have the spring seats machined to fit the phase4.

:-(
Will it ever end......
