Depends what you want the cam for!
For street you want a lower overlap for driveability - but then do you care for low rev driveability?
I have not run my cam yet and am a little frightened of how its gonna go but i got a custom grind:
.473 thou lift (which is high)
40 degrees overlap for street driving.
So it has a pretty agressive slope on the lobes [(#)]
Should come on a little over 1000 rpm and go to about 5ish.(so i'm told)

when u say driveability, what is meant by that? i just want something that will have big power output, i want great acceleration. but still want to be able to cruise with it( if thats possilbe).

ok - i'm not a cam expert but:
Overlap is the amount of time the cam keeps both the inlet and exhaust vavles open simultaneously. This incleases the amount of mixture into the cylinder. This however only really works effectively when the rpm is right. If the rpm is too low it causes the engine to run rough and will have little power. However it greatly increases power when the rpm is right.
The longer the duration of each cylcle (inlet/exhaust) the more overlap occurs.
So if you have a cam that has long duration and therefore large overlap you may find it will need to idle gigher to keep running and may cough and splutter until it hit it's desired rpm range. So you gotta rev the car till like 3000 rpm to pull away.

Jump on the net and do some research on cam profiles.

45's and no cam is just about pointless in my opinion, burning lots of fuel for very little return.

Well the 520x seems to be great but, its going to be my daily so i think i will be going with a mild cam from crow cams, Power range of 2500-6500. its the best i think for me. ok so i need a new spray bar, new springs, oil seal and rocker arm( but do i just need one? or how many? you can get them from crow cams they are about 13 bucks each.

years ago frank lowndes built engines for me and the only cam used was a 520x.with 45s about 170hp est power 3500 -7200 .if want power from 3000 -6500 go for the 520 [no x] giving about 160hp. these are real figures not inflated
