Wire from alternater.

Hey guys Just wondering what this wire does. It goes from the alternater to the head. Where the thermostat housing is. On the exhaust side. Its a 1.6l aswell.

If someone could tell me that would be great.

Cheers.

Just disconnect it and see what don't work.
(maybe someone in a previous life was fault finding and fudged an earth).

    sounds like an earth strap,
    1.is the alty rubber mounted?
    2. does the wire at the alty go to a terminal or earth point on casing?

Thanks guys, I found out what it is. It is the temp sender, it doesnt wire to the alty. just goes down to the alty and runs with the alty wire back to the side of the eng.bay then throguht the firewall.

    Thanks heaps. :)

    Brandon.
