Im just trying to think of anyone else. I know you can get Rays and Works wheels custom made but you start to get pricey then. Ill speak to a few mates and see if theres anything else (a friend is managing a tirepower now so that should help)
Why the re-think? I know Id only go to 16's but every time I see an Escort with 17's I start drooling uncontrollably if its a bit more work do it,it still pays off man, build your car for yourself not other people.
you can et the performance superlights in two offsets and a custom PCD cant remember what the offsets are though, can find out for you if you want: http://www.performancewheels.com.au/superlite.asp

It's not that - the car is painted and i don't really wanna go cutting the arches to stop scubbing n stuff. I wanted 17 to get a larger tyre selection but 16's will be fine. I would get 15 if i could get 40 series for them. Ive seen performance wheels - not a fan of the all too common minilites. The other i will have to see what styles they have and prices.
Thanks for your help with this. The auto x are $890 landed and a couple of hundred for set of wheel adapters. Like i said - not really the way i want to go.. but..

Look for the lightest rim/tyre combo that clears your brake setup. If you're chasing grip, try a new set of tyres before changing rims. Some reading. http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=51865

17 x 7 x 40 ' will handle fine... I've had on mine for 5 or so years. Used to be good but QLD now has the poo pootest roads in Australia. On the smooth patches they are good.

Thanks guy's. 1.) I don't have wheels currently - which is why i need some. 2.) I want 16's purely to accomdate 40 series tyres.
So just to clear something up - my whole bent in getting 40 series is to reduce tyre flex on hard cornering. Now - somebody said these would handle crap. What did he mean and given that some of you guy's run them is this true?
3.) i lived in QLD for 5 years and yes they have the crappiest roads ever!! Especially in cairns.

Escorts are not heavy enough to keep such a heavy square tyre on the ground. Grant- we need you out Lakeside and have a test
The cars ability to change direction is slowed. A good example is this years Gatton sprints. Both cars that come a gutza are both Ultra light, with huge diameter wheels.

funny you should say that - i just had a chat with someone who races and they said exactly that - i should stick to 50 series coz 40's will likely cause cornering drift. Man finding wheels is harder than the body work. Anyone got some nice 15x7 0 offset non minilites?

why not go to a falcon stud pattern? easy to do, (slightly expensive) but you can get an almost endless choice of wheels.

mainly coz if i do that and get pulled up at some time i can't simply put stockies back on for inspection. Also there is the +40 offset problem.
