My Barn Find (IXL-457)

The "Subject" may be a little bit miss-leading ?, After 14 years of lying in storage in my parents garage this car has finally come out of hiding and now resides where it can be brought back to a road worthy condition. This car was last registered in 1997 in Victoria (IXL-457) and belonged to a another member of this forum. The plan is to give the car a thorough mechanical physical and just go from there, Apart from dull paintwork the car doesnt appear to have suffered greatly from the forced hibernation (Married/Children/Mortgage/Renovations) the usual familiar story. There is no dead line for this project, I just wanted to let Capri Club Members (VIC & NSW) know that this vehicle is still in relatively the same condition as when they knew it, And it didn't become a 1/4 mile drag racer, or end up as a donor car for another rebuild, or worse

Ah ha! It is the same car!!! I have that magazine and to this day it remains one of my all time favourite Capris. Great to see it is still around and being revived. Looking forward to seeing its progress.

    righto!!!!!!! lol

put the right wheels back on it!
put the quarter bumpers back on it - they were custom!
the front chin spoiler is missing!
the old half cage seems to be missing
the black door handles have been changed?

not a fan of the full silver grille either!

I remember a young O being taken for a 'little spin' around Sydney when he was just a wee school boy in this car

All I can say is it is about bloody time!

Ahh the memories. This was THE car that peaked my interest in Capri's as a pimply faced teenager. It drove my desire to want a Capri as my first car, and I did in fact end up with a '69 1600 GT. 20 years later, Capri's are still my favourite cars of all time, having owned another 4 in that time, including the much loved Teal Glow V6 GT that is now in the safe and careful hands on Mac1Capri (Paul) in Perth. The 20 year fascination with Capri's all began with THAT car. Amazing. I hope she's back to her best in no time.
