Mk2 Advice

I'm looking at transforming my stock Mk2 1600 into a fast road set up capable of doing the odd track/sprint day and was after some good advice/feedback on the suspension set up.

So far I'm considering a set of lowered king springs, a whiteline adjustable sway bar and koni yellows up front.

Maybe some adjustable strut top mounts, not sure which?? It's a 76 model which has larger mount diameter to the later model Mk2's

As for the rear koni yellows but I'm not sure what to do with the leaf springs. Get them reset, get new lowered springs or try the single leaf (tappered) option. Also considering an anti-tramp kit.

Thanks Daz

dont go to big with the front sway bar, i'd suggest 22mm to be as big as you would need. Also, with the right rear leaf/shock set up you wont need a tramp bar kit. So it will be worth your time to invest in a good rear combo to eliminate the need to buy a tramp bar kit.

DAZ - what spring rates were you thinking of running for front and back?
    Standard height or lowered?

have your springs on the rear reverse eyed it will lower by 2 inches without all the problems of sag.the front spring rates will depend on the type of tyres you will run. the more grip the heavier the spring rates.run the tramp rods as they also help to locate the diff correctly and allow the rear of the car to squat under accel giving better traction out of corners.use ajustable rear shocks so the you can dial in rear of car to suit your driving style.

I was thinking about just running the lowered king springs in the front and reverse eye king springs in the back with koni yellows but I will have to change to 2 litre struts to run the koni's.
Also not sure if I can use 1600 lowered springs(KFFL-11)with 2 litre struts? 2 litre springs(KFFL-13)might not be suitable with the kent being lighter than the pinto. Though I have been told that capri springs(KFFL-12)would be the way to go for a 1600 with 2 litre struts.

Still researching and haven't completely made up my mind, appreciate all the help and advice so far.

don't use the std off the shelf king springs you'll just be wasting your money, there pretty poo poo on even a road car, need to look at specific spring rates, probably a custom order
