Door handles rechromed?

Has any one gone the road of getting door handles rechromed?
Or is it just easier to get them new from Germany..

    If it's cheaper to buy new, then you get nice new locking mechanisms as well (but may need to re-key). New are probably going to be New Old Stock (NOS) though, which doesn't always guarantee the best chrome finish after sitting around for 40 years.
