Well i finally got around to pulling my distributor apart to fit heavier springs on the advance weights and try to solve my ignition problems! After completing all the work and resetting the timing i took her for a berl around the block only to find that it was still the same. So i had a thought and pulled no.1 spark plug out and the rocker cover to check top dead centre! Low and behold my freakin crank pulley is about 20 degrees out, that's why i couldn't get the darn thing to run right. i remarked TDC on the crank pulley and reset my timing after putting her all back together.
YAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY!
Stevie's happy again

Well i finally found some time to fit my new twin point dizzy and leads (due to fuel pump issues in the Group A, i couldn't afford electronic, but now i have the old one as spare to make into an electronic dizzy when funds allow). I also fitted a set of Splitfire plugs, a new cam belt and i'm currently messing around with a cold air set up to feed te hungry hippies (webers), with the new vaccumless advance curve etc she seems to be much happier. Well i got a bit bored the other day so i decided that some spare aluminium sheet and some left over lexan that i had in the shed had to go to make a bit more room! i also needed to replace the air cleaners on my scort, so it got me thinking, What about a custom airbox with cold air induction! So i got a bit carried away, I'll let the pics explain the rest! Download Attachment: 100_1421.JPG101.56 KB Download Attachment: 100_1451.JPG116.69 KB Download Attachment: 100_1467.JPG111.9 KB Download Attachment: 100_1469.JPG96.1 KB Download Attachment: 100_1460.JPG99.84 KB There it is all bolted up in the car and ready for action! The only drama is that it has near doubled the volume of the webers induction, but on light throttle it's not too bad!

The strut brace stiffens the front end up dramatically by holding the struts at a specific point, nice and tight! therefore with limited chassis flex/twisting in the front end it's like wacking a big swaybar under the car and improves handling!

Great Mk2 ya got there, looks like one I was gonna buy a while back. The guy sold it though without telling me, wondered why he didn't return calls... Turns out he was interstate somewhere and returned home to like 70 messages [:o)]
Love the neons on it btw, ultimate pimp factor.
Looks tops, gl with it.

it has made a small difference in performance, but the main idea behind it was to stop the old filters getting "fuel soaked" and loosing their airflow characteristics and also to save some money come service time as i only have to buy 1 filter each time i go to replace it! after going for a decent run in the car, i can pop the bonnet and touch the airbox and it's still cold so it must be working just fine i reckon lol!

That custom air box looks fantastic.
I really like it. Especially the clear perspex top.
Well done. Great work.

Looks great Steviestar, in Queensland the top oil breather has to be plumbed into the air box. Have you noticed a difference in the handling since the strut brace?
