My Ghia

As my Mk2 RS2000 project is taking a little longer to finish than i had hoped,i began looking around for a 4dr Mk2 i could use to take my girl & our little boy to car club events etc.

After speaking to a mate in the club,he told me of a Mk2 Ghia he had to offload.
Car is a light metallic green,2 Lt Auto that has dealer fitted Air Con.
I went to have a look at it & a deal was struck.
It needed a real good clean up.Interior was worse than average, the car had been sitting for a few years & required a little mechanical work to get it up to scratch as well.
My aim was to tidy the car up as best as possible without spending much money on it.I would much rather put that money into the RS.
Anyway, after buying a few bits & searching thru my parts for the rest, this is the result.

Now i have a car that can fit the family in to do club events thats relatively neat & tidy that hasnt broken the bank!
Hell,i might even be able to get my other half to drive it because its Auto[:x)]

    Chris,
That looks like a brilliant car for what you want to use it for, a great Sunday cruiser, no need to hurry and all in the comfort of the ghia lounge chairs and air con, nice!

thats exactly what i have been looking for! how is the aircon? does it cool the cabin quickly and is it cold when at idle?
    that car looks fantastic!

also i notice that the battery is still in the engine bay, which is interesting because i thought... i could very well be wrong.. that the Escorts with aircon had the battery in the boot?

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Ty,at this point the air con doesnt work.It has no gas in the system & i would guess it would need to be retro fitted to run r134 gas.
That would probably involve replacing pipes,O-rings etc.
Im going to talk to the guys that do our air con for work & see what my options are to get it working again.
The air con was originally Dealer fitted, hence the battery remaining under the bonnet and not being located in the boot.

Craig, she has driven it when i first got it & commented that the steering was heavy, the brakes felt a bit soft and it smelt like "Old People" inside!

Shes used to driving her 03 Focus so that didn't surprise me.

After replacing the carpet & seats,a bit of vinyl spray for the door trims & a good scrub, its much better inside.

Gave it a good scrub outside too, got some Ghia alloys (thanks Mish!) and dropped it an inch and a half and now she says she would be happy to drive it
