Rostyles

Does anyone know what year that rostyle wheels first appeared? I am just wondering whether they are appropriate for a 66 mk1 cortina, here or in the UK.

as far as i remember they first appeared in 1968 on the cortina 1600E.the original items were fully chromed, with satin blackouts on the four spokes.as time progressed ford done a bit of cost saving and sold cars with chrome centres and silver painted rims, these can be found on later model 1600Es and 1600GT capris.
i got a set rechromed for my series 2 1600E about 5 years ago by MORETON AND MAY in Sydney. they done a great job, it cost $2oo per wheel back then as they had to split the rims from the centres to polish and chrome each piece and then weld back together again.they are a lovely looking classic wheel, but they aint cheap!still, if its ur pride n joy,why not? you could spend it on worse things eh?
