Twin DCOE's on Kent 1600 Flooding

Hi,

Getting a bit frustrated here with the twin 40 Dcoes on a 1600 (ported, big valves, etc), 638 grind cam. Its constantly fouling the plugs (1 & 4) are the worst and really doesn't want to idle or even clear up to rev.

I've checked the jetting which matches with a few sources of std settings for a mildish 1600, float heights were way too high (about 5 mm), so I've reset them to 8.5 mm.

Not sure where to check now. I'm going to double check that the fuel pressure isn't too high, but given I'm using the stock pump I would have thought it would be ok.

Any thoughts ???

Cheers,

Mark

Maybe the chokes are too big? Or a dead seal leaking fuel? Pretty damn annoying by the sounds of it, I had the same problem except the jets were WAY too big on mine. Good luck with it anyway.

I think its the seals. I checked all the jets with a few online resources and I seem to be on the money. After a bit of cleaning and meassing about it started fouling 1 &3[x2x][x2x][x2x][x2x].

Agree with the damn annoying thought. Suspect your on the money with the leaking seal. Time to put a kit through them both I think.

I ended up putting a single DCD down draught as a temporary measure and my problems went away.

    Webers flood because:

    Float level too high.
    Needle and seat not sealing.
Float is taking on fuel and has sunk.
Not mounted to manifold correctly, rigid not soft mounted.

Hmmm, I'll check the needle and seat again and lower the float height. I reset them both to 8.5mm (brass floats) and they seemed to be in good shape. I'm running soft mounts.

With the flooding though, if its a float issue, wouldn't both barrels on the one carb be running too rich ?

    Thanks for the pointers.
