Cheers everyone for their comments. Yeah, being as the engine is stock I don't expect to set the world on fire. I have deliberately left the engine for last as I'd rather have a car that handles and brakes well then one that is over powered and under braked ad given it won't be cheap I can have it built over time to get it done properly. I am quietly crapping myself a but I'm sure once i get on the track the adrenalin will kick in and I'll love it. I have a go pro camera so I just need to work out a way to mount it for some in car footage. Cheers, Matt

Going well Matt. Is that stance with or without the extra spring packers that would have come with the leafs? Whooligan - I dispute that Philip Island needs more power to be fun. Driving there is the most fun a bloke can have with pants on. Never driven it in a standard Escort but even still ... It is most certainly the fastest track we have in this state but i reckon also the safest because there is run off everywhere and room to pass or be passed. Matt, come out and play with us when you feel you are ready. We will help get you going

Hi G, It has both spacers installed as per Warren's suggestion. I have no base line whether this is ideal or not so I'll just suck it and see. I will give you a buzz to have a chat on where to go from here. Cheers Matt

Have started work in a new office and have started working crazy hours. It's good as I'll have more money to spend on the Esky but bad as I'll have not much time to work on it. I have been chasing a few issues with the front end. Namely a big clunk noise which I am pretty sure has turned out to be a loose gland nut on the strut so the shock was moving about. GDub helped me tighten them up by putting a washer inside the strut casing so hopefully all is good now. Next thing is to work out why the rear discs aren't running true and as such causing some pad knock back. There is a track day mid next month that a few of the guys are going to do so that is the aim. Good to see your beast is up and running again too. Catch up soon. Matt

Has been quite a while since I have updated but things have still been happening. I sorted out the rear issues with the discs. The axle flange just needed to be turned down a little more. Thanks to Peter R this was done and all is good now. I dropped off the car today at a mates mechanics shop to get a few things sorted out once and for all - 1. The front end aligned again. This time with around 2degs camber and as much caster as we can get. The new springs ended up being a little too low with the lowering blocks in so they will be removed too. Also to sort out what is making the loud front end clunk. 2. I still have a somewhat spongy pedal and I am pretty sure it's not pad knock off / piston pull back as I have had a good look with someone else pushing the pedal and I don't see any movement at all from the caliper pistons so that leaves either poorly bled brakes or the m/c. Time will tell. I have chosen the 16th June at Sandown to be my first outing (just to need to sort out my cams licence) and as such I tried on my old race suit that I have had for years and have never used. It's a big baggier than it used to be but it'll do the job. Most guys don't even wear a race suit so I may not even wear it but it's fun to wear it round the house and the kids think I look cool too. I'll update again once I get the car back from the mechanics. (If it ever comes back!!!) Cheers, Matt
