That's spot on Matt. Great stuff. I'm really interested to see how it all goes when the car is up and running. But its a million times better than having that bloody big arm and booster in the way!

Cheers Pete, Yes, it looks pretty neat I think and will hopefully do the job. I can't stress how impressed I am with the quality of the sandwich plate a mate made up. It's made from aircraft grade aluminium & fits absolutely perfectly. I just need to get some tubing flared and then I can see how it goes. Cheers Matt

The brake set up looks very neat Matt. I'm interested in knowing how it performs for you. On a side note I stripped some more parts off my MK2 wreck yesterday, one of those parts being the booster bracket. I see what you mean by tight clearance! 3/8 socket set with uni joint & 2 extension bars got me there in the end!

Absolutely, I got it off by undoing the other bolt and the 2 holding it to the side panel and then used a lever to move it out a bit so I could get and extension on it. One stage after trying a lot of swearing to no avail I got out the angle grider to totally destroy it! After a deep breath & a quick beer it all went to plan. I have decided to get the flares done at a brake shop as even though i have tool to do it I figure for an extra $20 or so it's worth it for piece of mind Matt

So I used the old brake line to make up the lengths and bends required and cut the new pipe to match and took it to Brake Plus in Nunawading and $10.00 & 10 mins later I had 8 perfect flares. For the cost and piece of mind I would never bother with buying a good tool unless you came across one really cheap. So I then just bent the new pipes to match the templates and it all went together and lined up pretty much first go. Now I just need to bleed the system and then see how we go. Cheers Matt

Cheers Mate, Yeah, but I actually prefer playing with stuff more than I do driving it! Next thing to do is get the carbs tuned properly than get the new struts & rear diff put in. Cheers Matt

I'm with you. Next time i need flares just get em done - i hate them. Although i think a more proffessional tool would help.

All done and dusted. I got my 6 year old to pump the brakes whilst we bled them and the pedal is now rock hard. I think my legs will be getting a work out, that's for sure. Threw the other wheels on too. Next step is to get the new 3.89 diff in and the R31 rear disc brake conversion. Cheers, Matt

Nice work on the brakes, Matt. I always get my 10 yo daughter to help me bleed the brakes.
Tar's for getting there. Dirt's for racing!

Been a bit slack recently. Have installed a coolant overflow bottle and dropped the car off today to get dyno tuned so the bike carbs are set up & running properly. I am a bit anxious as to how it will all turn out to be honest. The guy has done another escort on R1 carbs and he reckons they are an awesome match. Time will tell. I'm in no rush so should get the car back early next week. Cheers, Matt
