Machining standard yb pistons

Im considering getting 5 thou taken of my mahle pistons aswell as getting valve cutouts done. Does anyone see any possible problems doing this and also would anyone have measurements for the cutouts by any chance?

No problem machining mahle pistons that much. I will check on the valve reliefs - a mate in qld has a few sets out of motors. I am not sure whether machine shop saved the program for my pistons.

Hi Danny I want cut outs suitable to run a different inlet such as bd14 if I choose to. I am going for as close to standard compression as I can, I am only machining the 5 thou off to get them right in relation to the block face as it has been decked.

Sorry mate - not got any more info on the cutouts - will keep trying - but machininst set up a head in the mill to get valve posions angles - not too hard for someone good to do. What piston to head clearance you thinking of running? I also assume you have settled on a head gasket and know its compressed thickness.

My mates old mahle pistons were machined for valve reliefs by copying my new Cosworth Racing pistons on the mill.

If anyone needs a set of .5mm o/s mahles with valve reliefs, they are near new
