WCXM clearence with steering joint

hello lads

put my steering column in. i have a long steering joint and wcxm. with the top clamping bolt in the joint the hits on the engine mount. with the bolt removed there is minimal clearence.
have i done somthing wrong? any suggestions

    I had the same problem.....cribbed a few mm to get clearance by using a longer steering column, later Mk2's have them.

    I have the same WCXM, did you have any issue with the whole engine sitting over what seems to be too far to the drivers side?
     
    Which side have you got the 'Longer' of the two engine mounts?
     
    Any info would be great!

    hello pete,
     
    im fairly sure from memory the longer mount is in the drivers side. though my engine is a xflow so not sure if there is any differences.
     
    sits pretty well in the center of the engine bay. if your still not sure i can have a look in the next few days to confirm
    this is the only pic i can find at the moment
