NEW HOOD LINING FOR RS2000

Hi all.
Does anyone know where I can obtain a ready made hood lining for an RS2000 2 door. I've just acquired a car without a hoodlining and I don't have a template to have one made up.

I'd be grateful for any assistance.

I can get the UK ones in black or moonstone. Probably dearer than local but good quality and the material is correct. I found the local one I got for my mark 1 didn't fit properly and still annoys me to this day. Got it from one of the 2 Melbourne places, of which this crowd was supposed to be the better of the two

I recently bought one from the guy that sells them on Ebay. Quality is good and the price is very reasonable

thought so. I bought one from e bay ages ago and the bloody thing was 2 inches to short. When I told them it was not right, of course the seller didn't want a bar of that. In the end I just bit the bullet and had a trimmers custom make one from the start.fits a treat and was actually cheaper then the ebay one (including fitting) so it pays to do your homework.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'd get one made locally only the car I've acquired didn't have the roof/hood lining in it to use as a template.

I am also looking at getting a new black hood lining made for our Mk2. I have spoken to Supertrim in Coburg Melbourne and they have quoted me $176 to supply. Reading thru this subject, to be sure it is correct, I am better off taking the old one out and giving it to them as a template. If you are interested I could get 2 made and then ship you one. Not sure if the vinyl material they are using is original though. You would have to check this out yourself. If it is not 100% it doesn't bother me as the car is just a daily driver
    cheers

    Hi Ted

Thanks for the offer. I can get something close to the original "moonstone" material. Can you give me the name of the motor trimmer and I'll see if they know the material. If so, I'd be happy to get one made at the same time, using your old one as a template. I'm assuming of course that your Mk2 is a 2 door model. There are differences in the roof lining between the 2 and 4 door models.

East Kent Motor trimmers in the UK list a moonstone headlining for the Escorts. I needed a new black one for my RS3100 and discovered to my horror that black and white crater material is no longer made. I had to get a charcoal one made then have it painted and installed cost was $300

    Hello Gtv6,

The beige moonstone crater material is readily available from the upolstery supplier at Stoddart Road Prospect Sydney NSW. I bought the remainder of a roll of it a few months ago. They said they were about to order another full roll. Very reasonably priced too.

Any good auto upolsterer worth his salt should be able to acturately reproduce for a reasonable cost any of our old Ford head linings.

This is exactly why we like our old cars!

Don't use supertrim, my mark 1 hoodlining from them was too short, the panels were stitched in the wrong places and the front was cut wrong so the sunvisors sit at a 45 degree angle. Cost me more in buying and extra time for the trimmer to fit (12 hours!!!) than it would have to get him to make me one up.

If you are not in a hurry I have a shipment coming out of East Kent Trim and I have seen the material and it is good stuff.
