Dave's Mk2 Adelaide

G'day guys,

I've had my escort for about 5 years now but not really driven much the last 2. Now time for a bit of work to get it back on the streets.

The plan is to re-do the body work freshen up the motor aiming for more NA power.

I'm sure I will asking for lots of advice and opinions so wanted to get some pics up so everyone knows what I'm talking about.

A while back at the KPM dyno day organised by the forum, it made about 100hp at the wheels. Specs were:
32/36 carb
+1mm bore
zero deck height
Ported head - how well unknown
Shaved head
re-ground cam - specs unknown
double valve springs
extractors
2.25 inch exhaust

So im looking at improving the current head or getting a different one, cam, checking compression is where it should be and different carburation.

Let me know if you have any suggestions or know good places in Adelaide for any of this work (body/engine).

Here it is atm, will update as it progresses

and a pic when it was in better nick

Engine wise, go speak to Mike Dale Automotive 6/26 Jacobsen Crescent Holden Hill 8369 2882. He raced Escorts for many years and still plays around with them. He is on here - Member Black VR.

    Cheers

    Cheers guys,

what do people think about the colour? Stick with original?

It's gotta stay green but I'm wondering if a more modern green would be good (something like the mazda 2 green)

Original looks great in the sun, just a bit army green when its cloudy...

My vote is for original. There can't be many cars left painted in that colour.

stick with the original. The pic before you striped it looks hot. Not like any other escort ive seen. Might be the colour + the vinal roof thats doing it for me.
