Brake lights

So on my Mk2, I have tail lights but the brake lights dont work. Would that possibly be just the brake light switch and if so, can you still buy replacements?

Cheers

Would be a pretty easyy place to start. If it is faulty then you can isolate the switch by bridging the 2 wires that go to the switch. The lights should be on when bridged as long as the ignition is on.

Has anything else changed in the car such as having thr tail lights out? Other wise the plug on the tail lights could be upside down which will give you ultra bright tail lights and brake lights that cant be seen when the lights are on

So I bridged the switch and the switch is stuffed so another is on it's way. However, I still only have one brake light, the passenger side is out. With the headlights on, I get both tail lights working, so the globe must be fine and so to the earthing. I was thinking that I must have some dodgy wire going to the passenger side light. I can see from the wiring diagram in the gregory's manual that there is one wire that comes down and then splits to each side. Can someone let me know where abouts the split is located so I can have a look or any other tips that I should try.

    Cheers

try another globe, just because the tail light works doesn't mean the brake filament will work as there are two seperate dodads in the one globe.

All sorted, despite Sprint Auto parts saying they could get a switch, they rang back to say that there are none in Australia. A visit to Mike Dale got me a working one. It turned out with the passenger brake light that the globe wasn't quite making contact with the tab, a bit of bending has that sorted and all is now good.
