Have you done something to your tail lights to make them look almost black? Suits the car..

Cheers for the Birthday wishes.

The fan thing is exactly that, the fan. It looks like that with the plenum removed, pretty ugly at the moment.
I've got a fibreglass plenum but it still needs painting but pic attatched is pretty much how I figured I'd set it up. clamp at bottom with a screw at top on either end with some rubber stuff bit like wetsuit material but waterproof inbetween the mating surfaces.

Cable ties are only temporary. Just making sure all my wiring is correct before taping it up. They're a top invention the old cable ties!

Colour is Velocity Blue, on XR6's and 8's.

Haven't raced Russ yet, running it in still so he'd have an unfair advantage. Will wait till its injected and been dyno'd so then I can't have any excuses.

The tail lights always seem darker in photos, they are tinted but no where near as dark as they seem.

Think I covered it all.
Got ya email Alastair cheers.

How did you black out your taillights ? is there a special paint that you can buy that is some sort of tinted clear or something ?

As it looks damn cool.. and i wouldnt mind doing the same to my tail lights..

So the brake lights / indicators / reverse lights are still clearly visible when they are on ?

Cheers.

Tail lights came with the car many many moons ago. But I remember a guy a work bought a spray can of lens tinter to do his vl commy a few years back.
Pretty sure thats whats been done to mine, just sprayed on the inside.

Yeh they are still quite visible, obviously not as good as a brand spanking set of new lenses but would say theyre pretty easy to see.
Might see if I can get a pic when the weather fines up.

You're not thinking of doing this to your MK2 are you? That looks perfect as is.

And Rhys, paint turned out awesome. Looking forward to more pics.

Shea,
The car had a fibreglass front spoiler, that I reshaped the sides and made sit lower to the way I liked it.

Just for interests sake, I've uploaded a pic of the car from when it was is Unique Cars Mag in the early ninetys.

Pic shows a bigger front spoiler, but the guy before me cut it down as it hit everything.

A few years back I ended up tracking down the guy whom originally did it up and he told me a bit more about. And promised me photos of original build up but never heard back from him.

Building a house got in the way of installing the cossy and it was all sold. Motor got sold seperately so who knows where it is now and what its in.
Was also told car used to run a 1600turbo, but have no proof of that.
Its amazing, the history of some cars, some get used abused no $'s spent on them and crushed, others go through many different lives, getting rebuilt etc and have many $'s spent on them.

I remember that ad from Unique Cars magazine... still have it too. Slighly different ad though which says colour is Platinum Blue and price negotiable.
