Pretty sure mine was an eight blade yellow which was thrown over the back fence in about 1977 and replaced with a thermo fan.
Thermo fan worked well in the western district of Vic. but Im yet to see how well it goes in a QLD. summer.

this isnt much help either. The V6 is the only one that doesnt say how many blades. Its from the '73 parts book.

The reason I said eight blade is, not that I remember but thats how many blades are on the engine illustration in the factory service manual.

I've been looking into this recently, as I have a few original (and very used) fans lying around. Going by the parts book page above, it does identify which fans were listed for the V6, just in a round-a-bout way. From 1970 the GT was the V6, so up until April 1970 they were allocated a red 6-blade fan. From April 1970 they were allocated an orange 10-blade fan, and the 165hp specials were allocated a different fan again but the parts book doesn't describe it. From a fan I have here with the same part number, the 165hp specials look to have been allocated a white 7-blade fan.

    Cheers

Don't supose this will help, but my uk spec RS is white 8 blade, but that is thermo fan not fixed.

    Hi Mark,

I'm fairly sure the RS didn't come out with a thermo fan, but they are certainly a good addition. The Australian RS3100 parts supplement doesn't describe the fan fitted, but lists the part number as 72GB 8600 GA.

    Cheers

RS3100 has a viscous coupling fan, the 165 D port specials used the same set up as 3000E which is the white fan IIRC, the 3000GT seemed to change from red to yellow I've even seen some with the orange 10 blade.

OK so how many of you also got the plastic radiator shroud?

Thanks Jamie, think just a missunderstanding with the fan drive you are correct it is viscous/ thermo viscous. Fan shroud? Never seen one of those, is that just Australian spec cars? Fortunately family, house and car all ok after Yasi .
