stiff rear sucks. unless all you want to do is drift sideways everywhere..

i have reset rear leafs with extra leaf added and gaz shocks.

even with new tires iv had the tail end skip out on me in the dry just from hitting bumps on corners.

but if thats what you want, adjustable shocks, and a rear swaybar will help. maybe even panelvan springs?

I have an old k-mac rear bar you can have. It bolts through the rails.
It's got all the bolts to fit it.
I run van springs with another set of main leafs, eyes cut off the ends, and sandwished together. With the longer lenth leafs running forward to stop the diff from tramping.
Changing direction is the biggest differance on thr road.

When you accelerate the diff wants to send the tailshaft up though the floor.
The leaf springs transfer that same force to the car body.

Have a look under a Capri or German RS2000. They have the soft skinny leafs with a arm attached to the body, like GT Falcons did back then. We lucked out with the eskies.

Cal tracks? would be an idea, they are leaf spring supports for heavy loads.
$50 including postage for the rear sway bar?

You really don't want a rear sway bar anyway.

+1 to MaxRs. Don't make the back too stiff or it will skip all over the road and you'll lose cornering speed. A rear sway bar will hold the bum flatter but on dirt/rough bitumen that's not always a good thing. If the back can move it'll track on the road better. A bit of body roll isn't always a bad thing.

My thoughts on the Rear sway bar, do it for fun then get rid of it.
When you need your car to turn and not oversteer its nice to know it will.
I cant imagine how my car would have handled and I never drove it like this but when I got it had, two rear bars (1 standard 1 aftermarket) and helper springs. I tested it on the track with just the standard rear bar, and with nothing but standard rear springs with lower blocks and it was quicker and easier to drive with out the bar.

It does make sense to ditch the rear bar. With a rear swaybar if you hit a bump on the left rear wheel it will adversly effect the right rear wheel and round corners it with send your rear overtaking your front, an escort has enough problems with light rear ends so a swaybar will make it so much worse. Go for reset leafs with one added leaf and adjustable rear shocks, Koni Yellows are a great choice!!!
