worked 1600 overheated

Just finished my escort today, took it for abot a 10km drive came home and it boiled. i then let it cool down and started it about 2hours later, it seamed to run ok. Then i took it for a little drive she got to about 100 degress C, so i put a bigger radiator in when i started it up to test drive it was running realy ruff. I did a compression test and the results were: piston one 150psi, two 150, three 135, four 150 pistion 3 seam rather low, So i started it up and took no 3 spark plug lead off and it made no difference to the running. Then i took the head off, the head gastket was fine, the bore was in good condition too. when i was turning the engine over by hand (with the head off) it had a slight hard patch is that normal?
any idea what has happend cheers

How much work did you do to the engine? Did you replace pistons or rings?
