missing part from gear lever?

Hey all, the escort I just brought had a problem changing gears.

Could get it into gears but just wasn't sure which gear and the whole thing felt really loose.

Took the console out and the lever fell out with it, had a fiddle and doesnt look to be locking in.

These are all the parts I have, is there anything missing?

Missing the white nylon pivot ball - look in the selector hole and it will be full of crumbly whit plastic crap....

Blue retainer buts up against the cupped white bit, pivot ball fits inside the blue retainer and sits on top of the square shoulder of the shift lever.

From memory the Capri Clinic (http://capriclinic.com) do replacements to suit. Can get either solid which needs some engineering to fit, or split which are and absolute doodle to fit.

    Cheers

If you are really stuck you can also McGuyver it with a slightly modified urethane Landcruiser shackle bush (radius the flanged end, shorten plin end to suit)and a cable tie.....when you are stuck in Cooktown back in the early 90s you've just gotta use what you can find.

Really must get around to replacing that 'tempoary' fix on the RS, 18 years and still going.......

    Cheers

Ahh I did notice some white stuff in there and thought it seemed odd.

I was trying to track down a picture of a gear lever last night on ebay to compare but couldnt find one. Today I look at theres one nearby so may aswell go and buy a new one.

    Thanks for the help.

Also be aware that the tailshaft hole can open up (wider at the top) after high usage, hard to spot but gearstick will start to pop out.

It has the top half of the lever, a 1inch metal spacer to alter the pivot point & metal sleeves to tighten it all up...Your stick must have a good thread and pivot ball. I can supply a stick for extra $30 good for conversion to RS Quick shift.
