cossie rebuild...

hey guys

ive got a cossie head and 205 block...
looking at just a freshin up on both items...
the heads neva been skimmed acording to phill "who owned they head" so what needs doing what seals bearings and so on will i need.. and do they make a kit or do they have to be measured and made to order

the block
standard pistons rods and crank.. all 4 pistons have been kissed by the valves previously... from another head.. not the 1 i own
so a set of valve cut out forgies would be advisable??
block may need a clean out/hone so ill have to get that done b4 looking for pistons or should i buy the pistons and hone the block to suit... and the bottem end bearing will need doing also so they will measure them yes???
im not good with measuring so probabaly best the pros do it
anything else i need doing??

    Hi Chris,

    You will need to have the block measured before buying pistons to see if the bore can be honed at its current size or reboring to the first oversize is required. The crank can be linished and measured for size, the rods should be checked for straightness and size/ovality. From there its pretty much cleaning and assembly with new seals and bearings. The head should need no more than a clean and service.

    thanks mate

    would u recomend anyone to do this or just ur regular engine builder... im in wollongong but do travel to Sydney everyday but not a fan or cartin the block and stuff up there...???
    how will a set of pistons cost me... im not lookin at anything toooo expensive

    Hi Chris,

    I have a mate doing the machine work and head work on my engine and another at present, he's a bit slow but very fussy and gets a great result. He's in Windsor so probably not ideal for you but has all the gear to machine a cossie block to any spec you need. A set of pistons will cost you $1000.

    $1000 sounds alright might have to look into it further.. ill take it to a machine shop to get it measured to c what size i can afford to go to..

    If Campbelltown isnt to far, you could take it to Sam @ Westend Performance. I use him for all my machining at work.
