There is too many variables to give you a definitive answer. Such as what conditon is it in now? how sticky are the tyres? etc. the main one being how much abuse (fun) are you going to give it?

I few years ago when I was regulary competing in Autocrosses and motorkhanas on a monthly basis, I had a locked diff. After about 3 years with no problems I spat 3 axles in less than a year....

I now life my axles after about 3 years. When they come out - you can sometomes see the twist in the splines...

One set in a 4.1 ratio LSD centre I had a few years ago, I took out to change ratios, and found both axles splines had twisted about 1.5 splines each - needless to say these were liffed and binned fairly quickly and these were off a road car... Used to get great launches though!!!

pull the 2 spider gears out that dont drive the axles, then weld the drive spider gears to the housing, dont get the diff to hot while welding, also make sure ya use heaps of anti spatter spray. as fair as axles mk1 axles lager but do require mechine, never done it me self so someone can hopefully fill you in

Plate the sun gears together after you build up weld between the gears. I can do centers ready to abuse.

As for axle durability, it depends on road surface, ratio of the diff and the diameter of rear tyre.
Taller gears will twist the axles one too many times. especially with a 15 inch wheel.
Second gear static burnouts are not a good idea with any ratio.

Four or more leaf springs in the rear, helps with axle and diff center life.
Tramp rods as well are better again.
    Good luck with it.

    sounds good sounds good..

anyone got any fotos... so i dont stuff it up...

yeh the 205s will be comin off and stock 13 inch 185s will be slapped on... so less tred to spin

so the lower the ratio the betta yeh
ill try and c what mine is when i pull it out..
