LPG Only turbo pinto.

I am wanting to do something a bit different and a want snail power, So if I was to build a LPG only pinto, what would be different to a normal pinto turbo build?
What does youse think of LPG only as far as avoiding fuel injection pumps, computers and all that poo poo. Is it as simple as I think it is? IE LPG controller, throttle body and plumbing, Ive seen falcon lpg throttle body for fug all on feebayie less than 50.
I realise it will need to start under lpg , which can be a poo poo but, i think cost and benefits are feasible.

i reckon lpg and turbo is awesome to the power of sick. a simple mixer and controller would certainly work and be cheap. i prefer the impco range of mixers. how much power were you loking for ? i made a simple adaptor once to go from 34adm weber throttle plate to 3 inch pipe. then used an impco 200 blow through. just boost referenced the converter and it was sweet. if you have any questions, shoot me an email.

    Hi Tex,

did you make any headway with your LPG only build?

I was pondering whether it we would be plausible fitting a ST170 Zetec on bike carbs (N/A) with LPG injectors. Is it simply a case of getting LPG injectors plumbed into the intake tubes (for lack of a better term - you know, the bit between throttle body and head..) and a proper LPG fuel mgmt controller as well as a proper tune. All done by the pro's of course

    Further contemplations:

Wouldn't the higher compression of a ST170 donk actually work in LPG's favour?

Would you be able to get the LPG injectors mapped and controlled by a single engine management system - like megasquirt 2 or something? This would save heaps on 'conversion costs' if so!

    Would appreciate your thoughts!

    Cheers

    Nick

Lpg injection is the best method and very efficient. You also get no power loss over fuel and can usually make more power if tuned well, due to the higher octane rating of Lpg. If you go gas vapor injection the injectors sit separately to the inlet manifold and just have pipes taped into the inlet manifold. They also have there on computer system. It works very well on my dads 2009 patrol 4.8 petrol turbo making 340 horsepower at the wheels and starts and drives like a factory car.
