door lock knobs

Hi all,

I know the door lock knobs were alll chrome in colour, but what about the small plastic circular ring which clips into door trim. It goes around the door knob at the top of the door. I was under the impression they were always black, but the reproduction ones i have ordered have arrrive and are chrome also !! anyone know for sure ?

Capri door trims used a ring the same colour as the trim itself. However there is no known supply of these in repro items. The chrome rings are from the Falcons of the time and happen to fit the hole.

I have found that spray on vinyl works better than paint on plastic.

I agree - what a joke, you'd be crazy to buy those. I got my replica ones from Kev at Capri clinic - they are very good and cheap too - you wouldn't know the difference from the original. Except they have a chrome finish much like the actual door knob - although he is pretty convinced thats how they came originally.

    Chaps,

last night I removed the interior door card on my Teal glow Capri as I needed to install the new top rings which go around the locking pin - between the door card and the door it still has what seems to be the original plastic on the door - suggesting there hadnt been too many people in there before. When I reached inside, on the bottom of the door was the remnants of the original locking pin surround and it was infact black. I can only presume this is the original ford item, it certainly looks like it

    regards Paul

No they were definately colour coded to the trim. Maybe the fastening part was black but the visible part is definately the trim colour.

Oh BTW while we are on the topic I have got hold of some Brand New door lock pins, chrome plastic, exactly correct, I'll post a pic, not cheap though I think that they are going to be about $39 pair
