Strut Cups

I've recently aquired a set of MKI cortina struts, only problem is one strut is from 113e and the other from a 118e which means one cup is taller than the other by about 15mm. I either leave it as is?
or somehow lower the taller one without stuffing it completely.
Has anyone every moved the cups and if so how?

Thanks

You can lower the spring platforms quite easily. I have done it on mk2 escort struts before.

Have a look at the lower part of the spring platform, you will see a bead of weld going around the tube. Simply take a 1mm cutting disc and cut just above this weld. You only want to cut through the platform and not the housing so dont cut too deep!! You should then be able to knock the spring platform up and out of the way using a mallet. Smooth of the old existing weld, then knock/slide the platform down to the new height. Run a bead of weld around the bottom and you're done.

Just make sure you take a few measurements to get the 2 equal and keep the platforms in the same orientation, ie. dont spin them around.
