fixing bent struts

hi all,

can you fix bent struts? i have 2.8 capri struts in my rally car and bent one right above the stub axle at my last event.. not heaps but enough that it has broken the paint around the strut. i was thinking of stripping the strut and heating up the tube with a oxy and bent it back straight then make up some gussets and brace the strut.. would this work??

has anyone else dione something similar??

Cheers
Matty

Pretty sure if you heat it up near the stub, the tube will pop out of the stub. Anything is possible. You could heat a 2L tube and pop it in.

These people are Bilstein agents and will re tube your strut, they also fit tubes to except Billys on MK2 stubs.
I have used them many times.
    PS
Check if you have the small piston rods on your 2.8 legs, if so they will overheat badly on forest rallys, the rods can be seen blue and brown. Heasmans can up grade to 11mm rods.
