MK2 RS2000/sr20det
thought i would let people in what's going on with my rs2000 which i bought back in dec 08. Things have been progressing very slow with this project as wife ,KIDS ,work and fixing the house up kinda limits the funds. So far all i have managed to do is rub her back and get her in primer then in july last year i got round to getting some big brakes on it consisting of 280mm discs alround with 4-pot s5 rx7 callipers on front and single piston rx7 on the back.As of this week i have bought a complete low km import motor ,turbo ,5spd ,computer from a s14 silvia all for only $2850. Before it goes in its getting a new hd clutch ,lightened flywheel ,custom intake manifold ,s/s exhaust manifold ,s/s dump pipe. The car has been used for the last 8 yrs as a hillclimb car in vic so some of you guys might know the car. It already has all the fuel set up in the boot ,lsd motorsport diff ,panard rod ,adj strut tops, etc. Hope you like ,will post pics once i can fique out how to shrink the size of pic

Thanks to juiceman here are some pics of when i first picked it up and one when it was out of the shed. Stuart the spare will be have a small post bolted to the floor and a hub welded to the top to hold the spare in . Some history of the car that i know of is that when it was in vic a guy called Don Ashton owned and raced it as a hillclimb car with original motor in it from about 2003 , it did get a pic in auto action last year with a little article about Don. He then sold it on to a guy here in Adelaide called Michael who worked at a tuning shop called Tillbrook's where he added a quad throttle bodie set-up on it and the compmotive wheels. Then in 08 i bought it minus the motor and front brakes.Smaka bought the quaife gearbox off of me since i didn't need it in the conversion so i hope it was ok

hey mate where did you get that intercooler or is it a custom job?
I am in the market for 1...there is f&*k all room to get the intercooler, radiator and thermo fans in on the flat front ends!!.
im using andy's(510pom) mount aswell but car is along way from driving so cant comment on bump steer but the motor went straight in! :)
Are you keeping the SR box??, heard they don't take to much abuse so was thinking of an rb25 box. Cheers barney

If u r looking at a box upgrade i would go with the z32 gearbox... Its alot cheaper then an rb25 box and there r heaps of kots available for the conversion... Look at the mazworx website highly recomend there kit i have 1 of there adaptor plates... The sr gearboxes r weak and u will get good at changing them...

hi Barney the intercooler is off ebay its for a rx7 cost around $200 and has the outlet's facing forward. I am keeping the sr box for now just glad some work is happening. She comes home this week so i can tidy up the engine bay and paint it while the guys on holidays. Will post some more pics shortly. P.S. the intercooler will allow fitment of an escort radiator between outlet's.
