2ltr, no spark, electronic ignition

ive just bought a second hand 2ltr pinto, because my first 2ltr that i "rebuilt" had just given up, anyway i spent the day putting the new motor in, turned over to find no spark,

starter solenoid tab snapped, so the "coil boost" wire, that goes from the starter to the + of coil, isnt connected to anything, i ran my own wire from the coil STRAIGHT to the battery, only connecting when i was about to turn over the engine, so the coil was recieving power.

now, the main coil lead doesn't come up with a spark when put to the earth of the body, engine turning over, nor does any of the ignition leads, from the distributer cap.

the ignition system, is from a sierra, its got a bosch ignition module mounted on the side of the engine bay, and the distributer has the sensor thingo on the side of it with 2 wires going to the module.

ALL ADVICE APPRECIATED AND NEEDED!!!
