Wheel size question

Hi all,

Did the Mk1 Capri ever come with wheels larger than 13" ? In any version, in any country, including factory options?

I need to know because the laws have changed to allow only +2" in wheel diameter and my plans were to run 16"

Cheers,
Steve

Cant think of any, the MK3's had 15" doesn't help your MK1 though. RS and Perana used 13's

I'm assuming you will be running some very low profile tyres so cant you argue your case based on overall diameter.

    Hi GTV6,

That was what I thought too. My engineer was quoting document VSB14 that has been referenced by Vicroads as of Nov last year and saying that the law now only allows you +2 inches of actual wheel diameter. Since speaking with him I have looked up this document and can't find any reference to this +2 rule. I will call him again tomorrow to see if there is an updated version or something. He may be incorrect too!

    Cheers,

OK, I spoke to the engineer this morning. He made a mistake and the +2 rule does NOT apply - phew! As long as I keep within 15mm of the original overall diameter (wheel and tyre) then I am within the rules. Interestingly this only applies to the front wheels in my case. As I am fitting a shortened AU Falcon diff, the regulations for the rear of my Capri can be based on those applying to AU Falcons OR Capri.

    Cheers,
