V6 Capri carburetor question

Hi guys, just double checking weather the V6 Capri had a 38 DGMS carby?
I have one on a Pinto inlet manifold to sell if anyone is interested.

I think the later Capri 'specials', and certainly other later Capris like the RS3100, came out with the 38DGAS, which is just the auto choke version of the one you have (M = manual choke).

They do kits in the UK for the manual choke conversion (cable, mounts etc).

    Cheers

Jamie is correct. The special Capri's did come with the 38 DGAS carby.

    Hi all,

just on this topic - i have an over excited automatic choke on my V6 capri - is there an easy way to adjust this so that its not reving so high - it seems to stay on too long for my liking ? - or is it best to disconnect ? i really dont need one here in Perth. To disconnect i presume i just disconnect from the carby with no hidden complications ?

    regards Paul

IIRC the chke spring tension is adjustable by moving the choke housing around

    Chaps,

last night i was trying to remove or at least minimise the automatic choke on my 40DFAV1 carby. I did this by releasing the adjustment screw near the automatic choke (on the left hand side of carb as you look at the car from the front) when i did this the auto choke did disengage but now the idle has dropped to low - having only recently bought the car i haven't done any work on a carb on the V6 - there are quite a few adjustment screws but nothing which seems obviously to increase the idle, and i didn't want to start adjusting things willy nilly. I have searched the net to see if there are any clear diagrams but didn't have too much luck, just a few exploded parts diagrams !! can any one throw me a couple of clues as to whether i have done the right thing by adjusting the screw on the auto choke, or is this an integral part of the idle aswell ? which screw do i adjust to increase the idle without once again engaging the auto choke ?

    any help appreciated

    regards Paul

Stand at the drivers front wheel arch lean in. Idle screw is high up on the left, partly obscured by the gears

Your choke problem might be in the travel adjustment not the spring tension. This page from the book might help.
