Engine/exhaust popping..?

Just wondering if I should worry.. There is a spot on the accelerated peddle where wen gearing down will make popping sounds which sounds cool [:I] but now it seems it does it whether I have my foot on that position on the peddle or not and idle seems a bit rougher? (idle tonight possibly due to no choke and nights starting to get pretty cold) anyhin to be worried about? [?]

If it is the standard Carby. Sounds like it is running a bit lean. Try to richen up the mixture 1/2 a turn.

found break in top gasket on carby.. had to get an entire overhaul kit just to get that gasket... would it be worth going over the entire carby and giving it a 'overhaul' or better to only put the new gasket on and not worry about all the rest?[x2x]

Also check your ignition timing, and the distributor base plate for movement/wear
