Should I go for it?

Hey guys,

A mates selling his Silvia and ultimately I would like to go for an sr20det in the the escort, and I know his is decent. I guess my question is should I buy his whole car just for the engine and the other parts I want and part the rest out?

List of parts looks a little like this:
SR20det redtop - auto (only gay thing about it but figure I may as well get the box/clutch I want)
it has:

Greddy front mount intercooler
Apexi Blow off valve
Greddy Profec II boost controller
Stainless steel exhaust manifold
Blitz pod filter
Niztune ECU
Alloy radiator - with silicon hoses (brand new)
I figure I MAY be able to keep all this ^^^^
18" "Speedy" wheels
Drift Blade seats
Bride rails
Hertz speakers/amp/sub
Clarion blue tooth/usb/ipod head unit
Autometer Cobolt gauges
3" stainless exhaust
Slotted rotors
EBC "red stuff" front pads
KVB Rear shocks
Aswell as a few other things and everything else been stock.

I guess my question is do you think I should go for it? And how much do you think I should pay for it? I know the engine is in good nick and he takes good care of it. But do you think I should just buy an engine off ebay, or go for something I know is decent? I figure off parting out the car I can probably make around 2.5K-3K

Oh well thanks for any help guys, don't have alot of people to turn too to ask these things so an advice is helpful.

    People end up welding the SR20 gearbox bell housing to a R33 Skyline box.
    For $8000 it would be cheap if it was a manual car.
    12-14g is the normal price, but i have seen them asking up to 30g! for the full show one's.

    Sounds like a good daily till the shiny Escort needs a heart transplant.

    Thanks, Id be paying about $4k for it. I think its worth it but everyone is telling me not to.

    unless the engine has internals, its not really worth it. decent panel and paint s13's that are auto go for around 5 - 6k here in Perth. could get maybe 2k for decent rolling shell. plus buying manual box and slave cylinder, usually around $500. half cuts go for around 3k over here, so its a pretty close thing.

    If it was me i would get it, you can then use it as a daily and take the escort off the road to do a good job of it, if the engine is not up to spec then it would be better to get it sorted while it is in the original car, then just change it over either when the escort is done or when the donor car has out lived it purpose, then just sell whatever you dont want.
