rust

not really looking for advice, more wanted to post what i will be cleaning up in the next few weeks, and hopefully posting some before and after pics !

Before - passenger foot well



Before - heater bubble


other stuff;

- cut out / bog the small amount of rust in C pillars
and probably weld / bog up the C pillar vents whilst i am at it
- get her up on a hoist and KBR paint everything (or PQR 15 or similar)

    either will cut new metal and weld... or fibreglass...

    will have a better look once i have cleaned the areas up a bit.

    If you're going to the effort of stripping in back you may as well cut and weld. Good luck.

    thanks Fordsy... common rust points, so not surprised...

    yeah will probably cut and weld... footwell definately.

    I agree with Fordsy completely. My RS had had the heater bubble removed before only for the rust to be covered with fibreglass. Dont go to that much effort only to do half the job.

    If you do it in steel chances are you wont have to do it again sometime later.

    do a bit of everything - welding, bog and fibreglass... just depends on which section!

    C pillar Before


    Update - everything was painted with POR15 prior to any work. Combination of welding, bog and Fibreglass...


    C pillar After - welded, then bogged - then primed



    Heater Bubble after - metal from behind, fibreglass from the front, then bogged (poorly - need to go over again



    floor pan - this was a nightmare - once i started the hole got larger - thank god for POR15 - metal plate inside cab, fibreglass patch on outside




    all up, the patching material has cost about $100, but many hours of prep/work.

    happy for the moment - but just need to tidy up some bits.
