3000E project

Just snaffled a 3000E with a factory sunroof. I fell in love as soon as I saw it, car should come up a treat. Only hard decision is whether to put the viyl roof back on.....

I always wanted a capri with a steel slider, so I'll see how it shapes up, never know I might like it more than the RS.......

Looking at the number plate "LUW161" its been continuously registered since 1973 in Vic. Do you know the history of this car JR?

Car has now had 4 owners. I collect the car this weekend, the seller thinks he has the UK log books and the previous owners details. I think he said it came out in 1973 which would be correct going by the plate (my Jan 73 reg capri was LLA 456). He tells me he sold the Rostyles and fitted the Globes a long time ago (they are the flat face globe not the current safety bead style). It has a D port motor but the gearbox is the uprated side loader and a 3.09 diff, the very drivetrain combo on the Special Capris......

I ordered the carpet today I'm going to use the heritage loop at double the price of the usual loop so it had better be good. I'm also thinking of trying to keep the "E for Executive" theme and make it as quiet as possible in the cabin. I have found self adhesive malthoit for the floor, and will put acoustic bats behind the seats and in the quarter cavities.

It looks very solid, it looks like your driveway is fixed ;) put the vinyl roof back on, it would look tops with the tail light garnish and the different trim inside. O

Found a whole lot of small added bits which make it unique, posted more pics on the link above showing what I have found so far. Had the painter drop by to see it today, I want home but my wife overheard him say, lot of work here....(I usually use him for small jobs so it will be interesting to see what he has to say)

Hey JR. I just looked at your new pic's of the E, both my v4's have some of those items that aren't on aussie capris. the twin interior lights, the brace for the rear armrest ( but no arm rest fitted ) sunvisor mirror and the day/night rear vision mirror ( But sadly both mirror's were beyond repair, so ive fitted 2000 model laser mirrors ) That light in the drivers footwell might be for the handbrake warning light ( the red lense next to the headlight switch ). both my v4's are XLR GT spec, which was the next under the E. check your headling colour as it will most likely be dove grey not off white like aussie capri's. cheers O

The vinyl roof kit I got from East kent trim supplies is a very close match to that filler lid.
